Dear Friends and Family:

I am writing to share with you some exciting news and to ask for your support! I am running my first ever marathon this April in Boston and am honored to be running to raise funds for the Art beCAUSE Breast Cancer Foundation. The mission of Art beCAUSE is to fund research dedicated to eradicating the environmental causes of breast cancer. While my immediate family has not been affected by this disease, several extended family members, as well as numerous colleagues and friends, have. You can learn much more about the organization's mission, founders, and work at www.artbecause.org.

The personal challenge inherent in training for the Boston Marathon has taken on even more significance for me since learning about this unique organization and all of the good that it does. The thought that my run (26.2 miles - yikes!) together with your support will have a real impact in the fight against this disease is truly inspiring. Please share in this experience with me by making a donation to help me reach my $3,500 fundraising goal -- together we will make a difference!

You can make your tax-deductible donation securely online by credit card at www.artbecause.org (click on MAKE A $ DONATION at the bottom of the home page) or by mail by check payable to Art BeCAUSE (with my name on the memo line). You can either mail the check directly to Art BeCAUSE at P.O. Box 3025, Framingham, MA 01705-3025, or you can send it to me at 88 Cottage Street, Sharon, MA 02067.

Thanks in advance for your generous support. - Andrew

I am thrilled to be running my first Marathon on the Art beCAUSE Breast Cancer Foundation team. Art beCAUSE Breast Cancer Foundation is dear to me since I have the pleasure of being the founder's daughter. I've watched the foundation grow from a concept to a thriving foundation that has funded multiple grants to research the link between environmental factors and breast cancer. Deirdre is an active mother of 3 even more active boys: Jeffrey (9), Liam (7) and Conor (4). Originally from New York, she now lives in Southborough, MA with her husband, Paul and their three sons. She received her undergraduate degree from Cornell University and her Master's degree from Rutgers University. Following graduate school, she worked for several years as a research scientist in the pharmaceutical industry before settling into her most recent career as a full-time mom.

Deirdre enjoys serving her community and spends much of her time volunteering at her boys' schools, coaching and cheering for their sports teams, and teaching their religious education classes. In addition to running, she makes time for many other sports and physical activities including softball, basketball, cross-country skiing and biking. She is excited to be training for her first-ever marathon and equally excited to be running to raise funds for the Art beCAUSE Breast Cancer Foundation. Deirdre dedicates her run on April 16th to all the courageous women and men who have fought and are fighting breast cancer and to their families who love and support them.

I have made a commitment to run the Boston Marathon and bring us 26 miles closer to providing hope, peace, and freedom to individuals battling breast cancer. Art beCAUSE is a non-profit foundation with a compelling mission: to eradicate breast cancer through environmental research. I have both family and friends that have been diagnosed with this disease and over the next few weeks I will continue to pound the pavement, running and raising funds to support their research.

My goal is to raise $3,500 for Art beCAUSE, as well as to achieve a personal goal of running a marathon. If you donate $100 or more I'll dedicate a mile to you! Since this is my first marathon and only 12 weeks to train (yikes!), your support will mean a great deal to me and many others.

Thank you in advance for your support,

Bill

41 years old and born and raised in Worcester Ma

My parents are both from Ecuador South America, I have an older sister. My fiancée Lauren is my backbone and my running coach she was a standout runner for Gardner High School. She is the one the one that got me into running as a hobby and we have a wonderful 1 1/2 year old son together named Cruz Anthony. As a family we love to run, hike and bike together, I also enjoy snowboarding. I am a graduate from Doherty High School where I played football and baseball. I went on to be a surgical orderly at UMass Memorial for 5 years and then I opened a Cigar Lounge in Northborough MA that I managed for two years. I then went on to open a martini bar in Worcester that was very successful for several years. I now bartend and wait tables for Ted Turner at Teds Montana Grill in Westborough MA. In 2007 I worked with the You INC foundation and was the founder of the YOU Ball. I acted as the chairman of the sponsorship committee and rose over $65,000 for the foundation. I am excited to have found ART Because and am planning to raise as much over the next coming years to help their cause as I did for You Inc. I am also looking forward to helping spread awareness of the Art Because foundation throughout central Mass. I will be running the Boston Marathon in memory of a great friend's mother who passed away recently from her battle with breast cancer, Suzanne E. Adams.
